True story: I came into this industry over 10 years ago as a pure actor, rather than as transfer from some other medium. (Many that were having success then were former rappers, singers, comedians, models, etc…) And at the time no one seemed want my "look" in major productions, as every casting call I went to was full of Tyson Beckford look-a-likes. Though it was an uphill battle, breaking through types and carving out a niche that didn't exist before has had some rewarding results. I get to see young people get shots at roles that they don't even realize didn't exist a decade ago… But listen… Don't skip the work. Don't confuse popularity with ability. This #craft allows us the opportunity to bring people on adventures through our eyes and your social media followers can't act these scenes out for you. Let's do iconic work. I'm grateful for my new deals and partnerships that are forming. As I'm moving more into producing/directing/creating it's time to break through and open doors again… We still have far to go.
